4-H Global Citizenship Project
Do you have an interest in learning about the world around you? Do you like to travel? Then this project will help you become connected to the world by learning about other countries and their cultures.
Step 3: Select Your Project
Unit 1 Study A Country
This unit is for member’s ages 8-18 years old. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:
- Investigate a chosen country
- Participate in a pen pal program
- Attend international festivals
- Host foreign guests
- Make and exhibit a notebook that illustrates what you learned from the experience
Unit 2 Hosting an Exchange Delegate
This unit is for member ages 8-18 years old. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:
- Host an incoming delegate from another country or culture
- Make and exhibit a notebook illustrating what you learned from the experience
Unit 3 Participating as a Teen Counselor
This unit is for member ages 8-18 years old. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:
- Participate as teen counselor at a standard international program event for incoming delegates from another country or culture. (This must be coordinated with the 4-H International Programs Coordinator at the State 4-H Office)
- Make and exhibit a notebook that illustrates what you learned from the experience .
Unit 4 Exchange Delegate to Another Country
This unit is for member’s ages 8-18 years old. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:
- Live with a host family or families in another country as a representative from a standard international program.
- Make and exhibit a notebook that illustrates what you learned from the experience

Colorado State Fair and Local County Fair Exhibit Requirements
Unit 1 Study a Country
Exhibit will consist of the following:
A sturdy three-ringed notebook including a completed e-record with the following additional information:
- Selected option from page 3 of manual.
- Create an information sheet that explains the selected study option and lists the topic(s) studied (pages 6-9 in manual).
- Describe any demonstrations or public speaking experiences you had associated with global citizenship. Please be specific about audience, topic, visual aids, etc.
- Include a short story explaining what you learned from the study.
- List the resources that you used throughout the project.
Unit 2 Hosting an Exchange Delegate
Exhibit will consist of the following:
A. A sturdy three-ring notebook including a completed e-record with the following additional information:
- Preparation of your exchangee's arrival (page 3 & 4 of the manual).
- The arrival (page 4 in the manual).
- During the stay (page 4 in the manual).
- Resources (page 5 in the manual).
B. Provide information on at least one demonstration or public speaking that you gave on your global citizenship project. And please record this information on the demonstration page in the e-Record. Be specific on audience, topic, visual aids, etc.
Unit 3 Participating as a Teen Counselor
Exhibit will consist of the following:
A. A sturdy three-ringed notebook including a completed e-record with the following information:
- The arrival (page 5 in the manual).
- During the stay (page 5 in the manual).
- After departure (page 5 in the manual).
- Resources (page 5 in the manual).
B. Provide information on at least one demonstration or public speaking that you gave on your global citizenship project. And please record this information on the demonstration page in the e-Record. Be specific on audience, topic, visual aids, etc.
NOTE: this unit must be coordinated with the 4-H International Programs Coordinator in the Colorado State 4-H Office.
Unit 4 Exchange Delegate to Another Country
All exhibits will consist of the following:
A. A sturdy three-ringed notebook including a completed e-record with the following information:
- Before departure (page 5 & 6 in the manual).
- During the stay (page 6 in the manual).
- After departure (page 6 in the manual).
- Return to the United States (page 6 in the manual).
- Resources (page 6 in the manual).
B. Provide information on at least one demonstration or public speaking that you gave on your global citizenship project. And please record this information on the demonstration page in the e-Record. Be specific on audience, topic, visual aids, etc.
